Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur brings the Untold Story of Rezang La to the big screen

Every year in November, the Indian Army gathers at the Rezang La War Memorial near Chushul to honor a battle few outside military circles truly know about — a battle of raw courage, impossible odds, and supreme sacrifice. Now, 120 Bahadur, the upcoming war drama from Excel Entertainment, brings that long-forgotten story to the silver screen, finally giving voice to the heroes of Rezang La.

Set during the 1962 India-China War, 120 Bahadur tells the powerful true story of 120 soldiers from the 13 Kumaon Regiment who fought valiantly to defend Rezang La in Ladakh. Surrounded by over a thousand enemy soldiers and cut off from reinforcements, these men — under the leadership of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati — stood their ground in one of the most remarkable last stands in Indian military history.

Farhan Akhtar steps into the role of Major Shaitan Singh Bhati, Param Vir Chakra awardee, who inspired his men with quiet determination and fearless leadership. On 18 November 1962, these soldiers fought till their last breath, refusing to retreat despite being vastly outnumbered. When a search party arrived three months later, they found nearly all of them martyred — still in position, rifles in hand, facing the direction of the enemy.

Directed by Razneesh ‘Razy’ Ghai, 120 Bahadur is more than a war film — it’s a tribute to courage, brotherhood, and the unshakable will of the Indian soldier. Produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar (Excel Entertainment), and Amit Chandrra (Trigger Happy Studios), the film aims to rekindle national memory and ensure the bravery of these men is never forgotten again.

Releasing in cinemas on 21st November 2025, 120 Bahadur promises to be a stirring cinematic tribute to a story that has lived too long in the shadows. With every frame, it reminds us why the Indian Army bows its head every year at Rezang La — not just in mourning, but in reverent pride.
