Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his estranged wife Dhanashree Verma arrived in Bandra family court for the divorce hearing.
The two were seen at the court, a day after Bombay HC ordered the family court to hear their divorce case on Thursday.
Both Yuzi and Dhanashree arrived separately and were seen wearing masks to avoid being photographed.
The Bombay High Court asked the family to speed up the process in light of the cricketer's participation in the upcoming Indian Premier League season, according to reports.
Yuzvendra and Dhanashree have been living separately for over two and a half years. The estranged couple had asked the court to allow them divorce without the six-month cooling-off period as required by section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act.
The couple had cited 'compatibility issues' as the primary reason for their divorce.
Justice Madhav Jamdar had directed the family court to decide on the divorce petition of Yuzi and Dhanashree by March 20, given the Indian cricketer's responsibilities in the upcoming Indian Premier League.
Yuzvendra Chahal is the most expensive spinner in the IPL 2025 and has received Rs 18 crore to join the Punjab Kings team.
Chahal had agreed to pay Rs 4.75 crore in alimony but had only paid Rs 2.37 crore at the time of the hearing in February.
The case went to the Bombay HC and Justice Madhav Jamdar ruled that the second instalment of the payment could be paid as permanent alimony after the divorce.
Yuzvendra and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020 and got separated in June 2022. They had filed a petition to waive the six month cooling-off period on February 5, 2025.
