The leg-spinner's now-deleted Instagram story has sparked rumors that he was subtly mocking his ex-wife by citing a recent Delhi High Court ruling that said "financially independent wives cannot demand alimony from their husbands." Chahal commented, "Maa kasam khao nahi paltoge iss decision seh," which roughly translates to, "Swear on your mother you won't go back on this decision," while posting a screenshot of the court's ruling.

Chahal gave fans ample time to take screenshots of the Instagram story, but the post was quickly removed. Within minutes, the post became viral after followers reposted it on other social media sites.
