Yuzvendra Chahal reacts to High Court’s alimony decision after divorce from Dhanashree Verma: “Maa Kasam Khao Nahi Paltoge iss Decision Se”

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and his ex-wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma, have once again landed in headlines following a cryptic post by the spinner that many believe was aimed at his former partner. Months after their much-talked-about divorce, Yuzvendra appeared to take a subtle jab at Dhanashree amid ongoing rumours about their alimony settlement.

Recently, Yuzvendra took to Instagram stories and shared a screenshot of a news snippet about a Delhi High Court ruling that stated, “Financially independent wives cannot demand alimony from their husbands.” What caught everyone’s attention, however, was Chahal’s cheeky caption accompanying the post. He wrote, “Maa Kasam Khao Nahi Paltoge iss Decision Se.” Though the story was deleted shortly after being uploaded, screenshots had already started circulating widely across social media platforms, sparking intense discussion among fans.

The post instantly drew speculation that Chahal’s words were a veiled response to reports of a hefty alimony settlement that surfaced earlier this year. Multiple outlets had claimed that the cricketer paid around Rs 4 crore to Dhanashree as part of the divorce agreement. Neither party confirmed the figure, but it added fuel to an already sensationalised breakup story that had dominated entertainment and cricket gossip for weeks.

For context, Chahal and Dhanashree tied the knot in December 2020 in a traditional ceremony that garnered massive online attention. However, soon after, rumours began circulating about trouble in their marriage. By early 2025, reports of separation were confirmed, and the divorce was finalised in March of the same year. On the day of the court proceedings, Chahal appeared wearing a t-shirt that boldly declared, “Be your own sugar daddy,” which many interpreted as a pointed message following their split.

Dhanashree later addressed the fallout and the attention surrounding their separation during an interview with Humans of Bombay. Speaking candidly, she admitted that she had anticipated public backlash even before Chahal’s t-shirt incident went viral. Expressing disappointment, she said she hadn’t expected him to resort to that kind of public display, quipping, “Are bhai, WhatsApp kar deta. T-shirt kyu pehna hai? Fir toh ek t-shirt bhi kafi nahi.”

Despite the constant online chatter, Dhanashree insisted that she chose not to retaliate or make any impulsive statements that could further escalate matters. Her approach stood in contrast to Chahal’s recent cryptic posts, which many see as reigniting the public drama.
