Yuzvendra Chahal turns ‘Shaadi Guru’ post-divorce: Shayari for Dhawan, advice for Arshdeep

Yuzvendra Chahal turns shaadi guru for Shikhar Dhawan.

In addition to being well-known for his abilities on the cricket pitch, Yuzvendra Chahal has delighted his fans with his lighthearted demeanor via his banter on social media. Two recent incidents brought this aspect of him to light.

When Shikhar Dhawan posted an update from his trip to Bali on X, Chahal's sense of humor became apparent. Dhawan posted, "Sweetheart leke aayi mujhe Bali 52 per cent off on Goibibo thoko taali," along with a few photos.

"Logo ki Mohabbat reh gayi khaali, aur tum nikal pade Bali?" was Chahal's lighthearted response in the comment area.

This reply was met with laughs from a number of fans, and one person said, “Yuzi bhai ne kardi heavy comedy, bajao sablog taali (Yuzi brother just delivered some heavy comedy, everyone clap)."

Another added, “Kya shayari boli hai Chahal sahab ne, thoko taali (What a verse Chahal sir just said, clap for that)."

During a late-night Instagram live session with Punjab Kings teammates Ravi Bishnoi and Arshdeep Singh, Chahal's comedic side reappeared. Chahal joined the informal conversation while wrapped in a blanket, and the three of them laughed and joked.

Chahal joked, “In life, no wife… only blanket (only Razai no Lugai)," referring to his blanket during the live session

Arshdeep then said, “Shadiyon ka season hai (It’s wedding season)," and Ravi added, “Khub saari attend karke aaya hu. Ek-do mein to naachke aaya hu (I attended so many weddings, in one or two I even danced)."

Chahal asked Ravi, “Paise mile? (Did you get paid?)," and Ravi replied, “Paise nahi mile. Dost ki thi. (No, I didn’t get paid. It was of my friend)."

The banter went on and Chahal suggested to Arshdeep, “You should get married now." Arshdeep asked if Chahal wasn’t happy seeing him enjoy life. Chahal then commented, “Bank balance zyada lag raha hai, karlo (Your bank balance seems enough, go ahead)." The remark led to laughter during the live session.

Months have passed since Chahal's split with influencer and choreographer Dhanashree Verma, which received extensive media coverage. Prior to their breakup earlier this year, the duo was one of the most popular couples in cricket. Although neither Chahal nor Dhanashree formally verified the amount, reports at the time indicated a settlement of about Rs 4 crore.

Dhanashree stated in an appearance on Rise and Fall, “Officially, it has been almost a year. It happened quickly because it was mutual, that’s why when people say alimony, it’s wrong. Just because I am not saying anything, you will go on saying anything? My parents have taught me to only justify to people whom I care about. Why waste time explaining those who don’t even know you?"

Several cricket stars attended Chahal and Dhanashree's lavish wedding in 2020. Their relationship attracted national notice after four years of marriage, which resulted in a well-publicized divorce. In February 2024, the couple filed for separation, and later that year, the divorce was finalized.
