What was meant to be a well-publicized wedding is now the subject of rumors and intrigue. One of the key players in India's victory, Smriti Mandhana, was set to marry music composer Palash Muchhal on November 23, just weeks after the country won the Women's World Cup.
That didn't happen though. Smriti's father, Shrinivas, fell ill on the day of the wedding and needed to be taken to the hospital. Palash was admitted to a hospital in Sangli, Smriti's hometown, the next day, and subsequently transferred to Mumbai. The business manager of the cricketer declared that the health emergency was the reason for the postponement of the wedding.
Social media fans were intrigued by Smriti's decision to remove all wedding-related postings from her Instagram account, however there are still some casual pictures of her with Palash. Smriti's father and Palash have both been released from the hospital, but neither family has revealed the new wedding date yet.
During this time, Smriti and Palash updated their Instagram bios with the 'nazar' emoji, causing a stir on social media.

Since then, members of the two families have made it clear that the postponement is solely because of the medical emergencies.
In the meantime, Team India cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues, withdrew from the Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) to support Smriti during this difficult time, leaving many to wonder what's going on behind the scenes.
Amita, Palash's mother, is optimistic that the wedding will happen soon. Amita acknowledged in an interview with Hindustan Times that Smriti and Palash are both upset about what transpired on the wedding day. After the Indian women's cricket team star's marriage to Palash was finalized, Amita had even planned a special welcome for Smriti.
Amita is optimistic that the wedding will happen soon, even though unanticipated events have forced the two families to postpone the next festivities.
"Smriti and Palash dono takleef mein hain... Palash dreamt of coming home with his bride. I had even planned a special welcome... Everything will be fine, shaadi bohot jaldi hogi."
