Shabana Azmi made her thrilling comeback with Netflix's highly anticipated film, Dabba Cartel. The crime thriller series created major buzz for its intense storyline, compelling characters, and suspenseful twists. However, the series also draws comparison to Saas, Bahu Aur Flamingo, that stars Dimple Kapadia in the lead role.
In a recent interview with India Today, Shabana has addressed the comparison and stressed on the difference of both series. The actress, “Prior to watching the show, I was concerned that we would be directly compared to the show.”
However, Shabana claimed that her daughter-in-law Shibani Akhtar, who is the creator of the show, was confident about the series. She said, “Shibani was confident and assured me that it won't happen. Seeing her belief, I was also relieved. And when I watched the show, it was really a well-made show, but it is quite different from ours.”
Directed by Hitesh Bhatia, Dabba Cartel features an ensemble cast including Shabana Azmi, Gajraj Rao, Jyotika, Shalini Pandey, Nimisha Sajayan, Sai Tamhankar, Jisshu Sengupta, Lillete Dubey, and Bhupendra Singh Jadawat.
The film is co-produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Kassim Jagmagia, Abbas Raza Khan, Shibani Akhtar, and Sunitha Ram with the banner of Excel Entertainment. The series depicts the story of five housewives who run a high-stakes secret cartel in which style, ambition, love, friendship and betrayal are set in the rich 1960s Mumbai.
Dabba Cartel is currently available to stream on Netflix.
