A few weeks ago, Varun Dhawan revealed that he wants to go to Samay Raina's Indias Got Latent

Amid the ongoing controversy about Ranveer Allahbadia's comment on Samay Raina's India's Got Latent, an old video clip of Varun Dhawan sharing why he chose not to appear on the comedian's popular show has resurfaced. During a candid conversation on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, the Baby John star had shared his admiration for the show’s humour but explained that he had reservations about joining due to the potential controversies that come with its unfiltered comedic style.

When asked about Samay Raina’s unique approach to comedy and his rising popularity, Varun revealed that he was indeed invited to be a guest on India’s Got Latent but ultimately decided against it. “He asked me to be on the show, and honestly, I’d love to go on it. I thrive in that kind of environment. I’m not scared of being canceled, but my concern is that it could affect his show negatively. The more eyeballs you get with that type of humor, sometimes it becomes a crossfire,” the actor explained.

Ranveer encouraged him to reconsider, pointing out how entertaining his appearance would be. However, Varun remained firm, stating that while he personally had no issue with the show’s humour, his professional commitments made it a risky move. “I would do it in a heartbeat. I’m not worried for myself, but I think the teams I work with might have concerns. I’d have to do it when I’m not promoting something because it will definitely be a crossfire,” he added.

India’s Got Latent has been making headlines for more than just its comedy. Recently, Ranveer Allahbadia, who served as a guest judge on the show, sparked controversy after making an inappropriate remark during a segment. The backlash was swift, leading to widespread criticism on social media. Acknowledging his mistake, Ranveer issued a public apology, stating, “I shouldn’t have said what I said on India’s Got Latent. I’m sorry. My comment was inappropriate—it wasn’t even funny. Comedy isn’t my forte. Many of you asked if this is how I want to use my platform, and obviously, it’s not. I won’t offer any context or justification. I’m just here to apologise.”

Despite the controversies, India’s Got Latent continues to attract viewers with its bold and unconventional format. While Varun Dhawan’s decision to skip the show makes sense given the potential backlash, fans still hope to see him in an unfiltered comedic setting in the future. Whether he eventually makes an appearance remains to be seen.
