Choreographer-actor Ganesh Acharya is currently promoting his upcoming film Pintu Ki Pappi, which will hit theatres on March 21. Ganesh, known for his larger-than-life choreography in hit songs like Oo Antava and Kissik, has recently opened up about his experience working on the high-energy song "Gango Renuka Thalli" (Jathra) from Pushpa 2. In an exclusive interview with India Today Digital, Ganesh revealed the challenges he faced while filming the song, highlighting the immense dedication of actor Allu Arjun, who went above and beyond despite multiple injuries.
Ganesh explained how shooting the Jathra song was an intense experience, with continuous filming over 29 days. He gave credit to Allu Arjun for his incredible perseverance. "Every 5-10 days, he would injure himself, sometimes breaking his foot or suffering neck injuries, but he never gave up," Ganesh said, praising the actor’s commitment. Allu Arjun performed in a saree, ghungroos, a blouse, and other props, which added to the physical demands of the song.
In the interview, Ganesh also discussed the evolution of choreography over the years, comparing it to his work in the past. He noted how choreography has changed significantly, especially when working with today’s generation of actors. "Earlier, we used to mould the artistes according to them. Now we mould the dancers according to us, because they are quite learned. They know dance," Ganesh said, singling out actors like Tiger Shroff, Varun Dhawan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Ranveer Singh for their exceptional dance skills. He also reflected on the difficulty of getting older stars like Sunny Deol, Sanjay Dutt, and Ajay Devgn to dance, calling it a much bigger task back in the day.
Ganesh Acharya is not just a choreographer but also a versatile actor, and in Pintu Ki Pappi, he will be seen sharing screen space with debutants Shushant Thamke, Jaanya Joshi, and Viidhi, alongside an ensemble cast that includes Vijay Raaz, Murali Sharma, Sunil Pal, Ali Asgar, and others. Fans are eagerly awaiting the release of this film, which promises a blend of comedy, drama, and entertainment.
