The Bharatiya Janata party led NDA is predicted to sweep the hill state of Uttarakhand, winning all the five Lok Sabha seats with a vote share of 62 per cent, according to News18's Mega Opinion Poll.
The ruling government of BJP-led NDA won all the Lok Sabha seats in the elections in both the 2014 and 2019 general elections.
The Assembly elections of 2022, marked INC's return in which the grand old party made a comeback in the political landscape of the state.
Being a swing state that could affect the results of the elections, Uttarakhand, with five parliamentary seats, plays a significant role in determining the central government in the Lok Sabha Elections.
Earlier this month, the saffron camp released its first list of candidates, including Uttarakhand. Mala Rajya Laxmi Shah has been fielded by the party from Tehri Garhwal while Ajay Tamta has been given a ticket from Almora (SC). Ajay Bhatt will contest the polls from the Nainital-Udhamsingh Nagar seat.
In the assembly polls, BJP had 47 seats to its name out of 70. Congress was able to improve its position after defeat in 2019 Lok Sabha polls with their number of seats standing at 19. BSP and Independent Candidates has 2 each.
Currently, the BJP is ruling the hill state with Pushkar Singh Dhami as the Chief Minister and a win for the party in Lok Sabha would mean that the 'Double Engine Sarkar' would continue for at least two more years till Assembly polls in the state.
