UP Lok Sabha election highlights: In phase 6, Uttar Pradesh saw the highest number of nomination forms, with 470 from 14 parliamentary constituencies.

UP Lok Sabha Election 2024 Highlights: The sixth phase of Lok Sabha election in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday is being held across 14 seats.

The Lok Sabha seats going to the polls are Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Phulpur, Allahabad, Ambedkar Nagar, Shrawasti, Domariyaganj, Basti, Sant Kabir Nagar, Lalganj, Azamgarh, Jaunpur, Machhlishahr and Bhadohi.

The state is witnessing a direct contest between the BJP-led ruling NDA, Congress-led opposition INDIA, and the BSP.

Some of the key candidates in fray are Maneka Gandhi (Sultanpur), Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirahua (Azamgarh), Keshari Devi Patel (Phulpur) and Babu Singh Khushwaha (Jaunpur).

In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, out of 14 seats, the BJP emerged victorious on 10, including in Sultanpur, Pratapgarh, Basti, Allahabad, Domariyaganj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Azamgarh, Bhadohi, and Machhlishahr.

In phase 6, Uttar Pradesh saw the highest number of nomination forms, with 470 from 14 parliamentary constituencies, followed by Haryana with 370 nominations from 10 seats. Uttar Pradesh’s 14 seats in this phase have 162 candidates.

Here are the highlights of the Phase 6 polls across the state.

2.34 pm: Constituencywise polling till 1 pm.
38.42% voting in Sultanpur
36.01% voting in Pratapgarh
33.05% voting in Phulpur
34.06% voting in Allahabad
41.59% voting in Ambedkar Nagar
36.74% voting in Shravasti
37.64% voting in Dumariyaganj
40.07% voting in Basti
36.99% voting in Sant Kabir Nagar
38.12% voting in Lalganj
38.37% voting in Azamgarh
37.41% voting in Jaunpur
37.36% voting in Machhalishahar
35.82% voting in Bhadoh

2 pm: SP has claimed on social media that  its polling agents are being threatened by the block chief of BJP at booth number 489 in Kaptanganj assembly of Basti Lok Sabha, the voting is being affected.

1 pm: This alliance of Congress and SP says that they will fight together. If they win the elections, then they will loot together and if they lose the elections then they will break again on June 4, says CM Yogi Adityanath

12 pm: Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh said, "I appeal to everyone to vote and play their role in this great festival of democracy. People have made up their mind to give the reins of the country to Prime Minister Modi for the third time."

10.30 am: SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav accused the administration of slow voting.

10 am: "There are smaller issues at 2-3 places in EVMs, a few of the polling officers are not well trained and even a few of our agents are unaware. It's a hit-and-miss process..." says BJP's Maneka Gandhi.

9.46 am: Former MP from Jaunpur, Dhananjya singh and his wife show inked fingers after casting their votes.

9.30 am: BJP candidate from Azamgarh, Dinesh Lal Yadav 'Nirahua' said, "The people of Azamgarh are going to cast their votes for development...When SP candidate Dharmendra Yadav loses from Azamgarh then he will understand that the Yadavs of Azamgarh have the capacity to win elections on their own and reach the Parliament...."

9.17 am: SP leader Guddu Jamali  cast his vote. "My father and I have voted. SP is going to win this seat. INDIA bloc has only one agenda that every section of the society is to develop," he said.

9 am: Congress  candidate from Allahabad , Ujjwal Raman Singh, has alleged that the voting machines are not working iin some areas.

8.50 am: BJP candidate from Allahabad Lok Sabha constituency, Neeraj Tripathi, said that the Congress will be wiped out and the Samajwadi Party will also not be there.

8.45 am: Samajwadi Party candidate Lalji Verma has cast his vote from Ambedkar Nagar.

8.34 am: Our aim is victory, talk should be on development issues, says  BJP candidate from Sultanpur Maneka Gandhi.

8 am: "I am very excited about the voting process. It is every citizen's right to cast his vote...I appeal to go & cast their vote to make a strong government..."

7.15 am:  A model polling booth has been set up in #Sultanpur, UP.

7 am: Voting is underway across 14 Lok Sabha seats.
