'Muslim men use condoms most': Owaisi responds to Modi's 'more children' remark

Wading into the fierce debate between the BJP and the Congress over the latter’s promise of wealth distribution and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s controversial remarks on Muslims, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen chief Asaduddin Owaisi said the population growth of the community has slowed down and the men from community ‘use condoms the most in the country’.

Owaisi also targeted the PM for calling “17 crore Muslims ‘infiltrators’ and said Modi’s guarantee “only mean the hatred towards of Dalits and Muslims”.

“For how long will you show the fear of Muslims to our Hindu brothers and sisters…We have different religion and we also have some other differences but we are all the citizens of this country,” Owaisi said, adding that ‘PM Modi is the biggest liar this country has ever seen’.

Attacking further, the AIMIM chief said, “The prime minister is calling 17 crore Muslims of this country infiltrators. Ghuspaithiye means people who are residing in the country illegally… they want to implement CAA and NRC and then call us infiltrators. This is their plan and the PM himself has spelled it out.” Are you all infiltrators, he asked during his rally in Hyderabad.

Owaisi said the saffron party and PM Modi are trying to create an environment of fear by saying that Muslims will overtake the population of Hindus in this country and that is not possible.

“The data from the Modi government shows that the population growth and the fertility rate of Muslims are declining. I have no shame in saying Muslim men use condoms the most in the country,” Owaisi said adding that PM Modi and Amit Shah have six siblings each.

BJP and PM Modi are trying to create hatred in the society by spreading these lies, he added.

According to the recent National Family Health Survey data, the total fertility rate (TFR), which shows the number of children born per woman on average, has already fell below the replacement level of 2.1. Among the Muslims, it has plunged from 4.4 in 1992 to 2.4 in 2019, while in the case of Hindus, it has declined to 1.9 from 3.3 in the same period.

PM Modi during a rally in Rajasthan had said that Congress will “conduct a comprehensive survey of individuals' properties and redistribute wealth to Muslims”. Following the remarks, Congress and several others filed a complaint with the Election Commission after which the poll body issued a notice to BJP.
