In the latest Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar) [NCP(SP)] achieved remarkable success, securing victories in 8 out of the 10 contested seats. This feat represents the party's highest strike rate in Lok Sabha elections.

Voter turnout for the 2024 elections was 61.29 percent in Maharashtra, slightly higher than in 2019.

In Maharashtra, the NCP split into two fractions, with former Union Minister and four-time chief minister Sharad Pawar leading one faction that joined up with the Congress and the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) to form the Maha Vikas Aghadi, while Sharad Pawar’s nephew Ajit Pawar joined the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance.

NCP(SP)'s wins were spread across various regions of Maharashtra, including the Mumbai region (Bhiwandi), western and central Maharashtra (Baramati, Madha, and Shirur), Vidarbha (Wardha), and north Maharashtra (Dindori and Ahmednagar).

In a notable intra-party contest, Sharad Pawar's daughter, Supriya Sule, emerged victorious over her sister-in-law, Sunetra Pawar, who contested as part of the NCP faction led by her husband, Ajit Pawar.

Following the split within NCP, some senior leaders like Jayant Patil and Vandana Chavan remained loyal to Sharad Pawar, while many younger members aligned with Ajit Pawar. Despite the split and the loss of party names and symbols, NCP(SP) benefited from this division.

The 2024 Lok Sabha election mirrored the dynamics of the 2019 assembly elections, where many leaders departed from NCP, and the opposition prematurely declared the end of the Sharad Pawar era. However, NCP defied expectations, securing over 50 seats in the 2019 assembly elections.
