The application process for admission to Class 6 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) for the 2026 academic session has officially begun. Parents and guardians who wish to enrol their children in one of the JNVs must submit the application form online by 29 July 2025.
The registration form is available on the official websites navodaya.gov.in and cbseitms.rcil.gov.in. Only online applications will be accepted and no offline or handwritten forms will be considered.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for Class 6 admission in JNVs, the student must fulfil the following conditions:
Residence Requirement: Admission will be allowed only in the JNV located in the district where the student resides. A valid residence certificate must be submitted at the time of application.
Educational Background: The applicant must have studied in Class 3, 4 and 5 in a government, government-aided or recognised school and must have passed these classes.
Single Attempt: A student is allowed to appear only once for the JNVST entrance exam.
Rural Quota: 75% of seats are reserved for students from rural areas. To qualify under the rural quota, the student must have studied in Classes 3 to 5 in a school located in a rural area of the same district. Those who studied in schools situated in urban areas will be considered under the urban category.
Remaining Seats: The other 25% of seats will be filled based on merit and are open to both rural and urban applicants.
