The index measuring inflation expectations for consumers in the Eurozone fell to 6.1 in June of 2023, the least since 2016, from the downwardly revised 12.1 in the previous month. The result was welcomed by the European Central Bank as it reflected that elevated inflation in the Eurozone is not becoming entrenched in consumers' views. As consistently echoed by ECB members, signs that price growth expectations remain anchored are essential to prevent a wage-price spiral and aid the return to target inflation.
