Kinetic DX electric scooter launched at Rs 1,11,499

The DX has a claimed range of up to 116km on a single full charge.

Kinetic Watts and Volts, the electric vehicle (EV) subsidiary of Kinetic Engineering, today announced the launch of the Kinetic DX electric scooter range at a starting price of Rs 1,11,499 (ex-showroom).

The DX can be booked for a token amount of Rs 1,000. The bookings will be limited to 35,000 units, with the deliveries of the electric scooter scheduled to commence in September.

Kinetic Engineering and its promoters have infused Rs 72 crore in Kinetic Watts and Volts. The promoters recently pledged an additional Rs 177 crore in Kinetic Engineering, with a significant portion dedicated to scaling up the DX platform.

The Kinetic DX is available in two variants -- Standard and DX+. The following are their prices (ex-showroom).

Kinetic DX Standard - Rs 1,11,499

Kinetic DX+ - Rs 1,17,499

The DX has two colour options -- Silver and Black. The DX+ has three additional colours -- Red, Blue and White. It gets a metal body with a spacious floorboard. The 37-litre under-seat storage is large enough to carry a full-face helmet and an open-face helmet along with some daily essentials, the company claimed.

The electric scooter has a 2.6kWh LFP battery, manufactured by Range-X. It is claimed to have up to four times more life (2,500 to over 3,500 cycles) than a similar-spec NMC battery with better thermal sensitivity. The DX+ is claimed to have a range (IDC) of 116km on a single full charge. The top speed is claimed to be 90kmph. There are three drive modes -- Range, Power and Turbo.

The DX range uses telescopic front suspension and adjustable rear shocks. For taking care of the braking duties, there is a 220mm disc at the front and a 130mm drum at the rear. Also available is a combined braking system.

The electric scooter boasts segment-first features like Easy Key for keyless operation, Easy Charge (on DX+) for charging with a patented retractable charging cable, and Easy Flip for a one-touch pillion footrest deployment. Both variants of the electric scooter get reverse and hill hold features.

A dedicated mobile app provides real-time ride stats and vehicle data, geo-fencing, intruder alert and vehicle location, among others. The electric scooter has been enabled for voice alerts. There is a dedicated Kinetic Assist switch for instant CRM connect via Bluetooth.
