When news of Microsoft Paint being retired broke, it left its users and tech geeks both distraught. For years, the classic software that comes bundled with Windows has been a go-to software whenever one felt like doodling and drawing while reminiscing the school days.
Seeing disappointed MS Paint aficionados, Microsoft has come out with a statement on its blog saying MS Paint is not going away.
The tech giant said: "In addition to the new 3D capabilities, many of the MS Paint features people know and love like photo editing and 2D creation are in Paint 3D - the new app for creativity, available for free with the Windows 10 Creators update. In the future, we will offer MS Paint in the Windows Store also for free and continue to provide new updates and experiences to Paint 3D so people have the best creative tools all in one place."
So MS Paint stays but how is Paint 3D? After recent improvements and updates, Paint 3D is fast gaining traction due to its new features.
According to The Guardian, the new "Paint 3D is installed alongside traditional Paint and features 3D image making tools as well as some basic 2D image editing. But it is not an update to original Paint and doesn’t behave like it."
Microsoft first launched the app in conjunction with the Windows 10 Creators Update and Surface Studio announcements.
All classic features of Paint's basic editing and creating have been retained in Paint 3D so there's no need to feel alienated.

As reported by a popular tech blog The Verge, "With the new Paint 3D, users can take photos and turn portions of the photo into 3D objects, or turn a 2D doodle into a 3D image."
This will help users who drew basic doodles for use and had to shift to another software to turn 2D images into 3D.
Microsoft has also created a community called Remix 3D where one can "discover thousands of 3D models and upload new creations" made on Paint 3D.
Currently, Paint 3D is available just for Windows 10.
