Muthoot Finance Limited is a non-banking finance company. The Company operates in two business segments: Financing and Power Generation. The Company operates under the brand name of The Muthoot Group, which has a range of interests in the fields of financial services, healthcare, education, plantations, real estate, foreign exchange, information technology, insurance distribution and hospitality. The Company provides personal and business loans secured by gold jeweler, or gold loans, primarily to individuals who possess gold jeweler but could not access formal credit within a reasonable time, or to whom credit may not be available at all, to meet unanticipated or other short-term liquidity requirements. As of March 31, 2012, the Company had 3,678 branches across 21 states.
