JD Vance says he’s ‘ready to serve’ as President if a ‘terrible tragedy’ occurs

US Vice President JD Vance has said he is prepared to take over as President of the United States in the event of a "terrible tragedy," while making it clear that President Donald Trump remains in strong health and full of energy.

In an interview with USA Today on Thursday, the 41-year-old Vice President stated that his experience over the past 200 days has equipped him for the responsibilities of the presidency, should such an unforeseen situation arise.

"Donald Trump is in great health," Vance noted, emphasizing his confidence that the President will not only complete his term but also continue delivering on his commitments to the American people.

“I feel very confident the president of the United States is in good shape, is going to serve out the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people,” adding that he has had the best "on-the-job training" and would be ready to step in as POTUS, he mentioned.

“And if God forbid there’s a terrible tragedy, I can’t think of a better on-the-job training than what I’ve got in the last 200 days," he added.

“While most of the people working around the President are younger than he is, we often find that he’s the last one to go to sleep and the last to stop taking phone calls. He’s also the first to wake up and start making calls in the morning,” Vance said.

“So, yes, things can always happen, terrible tragedies happen, but I’m very confident that the President of the United States is in good shape, he’s gonna serve the remainder of his term and do great things for the American people," the US Vice President said.

This statement comes after speculations regarding the US president's health were doing the rounds after he was spotted with a bruise on his hand during his meeting with South Korean president Lee Jae Myung.
