Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed deep sorrow over the tragic bus accident in Medina, Saudi Arabia, involving Indian nationals. In a tweet, he conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost their loved ones and prayed for the swift recovery of those injured.

“Deeply saddened by the accident in Medinah involving Indian nationals. My thoughts are with the families who have lost their loved ones. I pray for the swift recovery of all those injured. Our Embassy in Riyadh and Consulate in Jeddah are providing all possible assistance. Our officials are also in close contact with Saudi Arabian authorities,” Modi said.

At least 42 Indian Umrah pilgrims are feared dead after a passenger bus collided with a diesel tanker near Medina on Monday, leaving the vehicle engulfed in flames. Most of the victims were reportedly from Telangana, with preliminary reports indicating that many were from Hyderabad, including 20 women and 11 children.

The pilgrims were returning to Medina after performing Umrah prayers in Mecca when the accident occurred. Rescue operations are ongoing, and the Indian Embassy and Consulate have established a 24×7 control room to assist the families of those affected.
