Iran's Embassy in India has condemned the United States over its decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian imports and sanction six Indian companies involved in petrochemical trade with Iran.
Along with this, Tehran accused Washington of weaponizing its economy through coercive sanctions targeting independent nations like Iran and India.
In a X post from Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India, "The United States continues to weaponize the economy and use #sanctions as tools to dictate its will on independent nations such as Iran and India and impede their growth and development."
"These coercive discriminatory actions violate the principles of international law and national sovereignty, representing a modern form of economic imperialism. Resisting such policies is a stand for a more powerful emerging non Western-led multilateral world order and a stronger Global South," embassy further added.
Foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei in a statement called "the new US sanctions against Iran's oil trade a malicious act aimed at undermining the economic development and welfare of the Iranian people".
