Indian Embassy issues travel advisory

In light of ongoing tensions at the Cambodia-Thailand border, the Embassy of India in Phnom Penh has issued an advisory urging Indian nationals to refrain from traveling to the affected areas.

"In view of the ongoing clashes at the Cambodia-Thailand border, Indian nationals are advised to avoid traveling to the border areas," the embassy said in a statement posted on X.

The embassy, located in Cambodia’s capital, Phnom Penh, also shared emergency contact information for Indian nationals. "In case of any emergency, Indian nationals may approach the Embassy of India, Phnom Penh at +855 92881676," it said.

The Indian Embassy in Thailand has released a travel advisory amid ongoing deadly border clashes with Cambodia, urging Indian citizens to remain vigilant and avoid specific high-risk areas as the violence entered its second day on Friday.

In a post on X, the Embassy advised travellers to rely on official updates from Thai sources like the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT). It shared a TAT alert listing locations across seven provinces, including Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Sisaket, Buriram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat as “not recommended for travel.”

The embassy of India said on X, “In view of the situation near the Thailand-Cambodia border, all Indian travellers to Thailand are advised to check updates from Thai official sources, including TAT Newsroom. As per the Tourism Authority of Thailand, the places mentioned in the following link are not recommended for travelling.”

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has convened a private emergency session under the agenda item "Threats to international peace and security" to discuss the ongoing conflict. Both Cambodia and Thailand have lodged formal complaints with the UN, each accusing the other of initiating the recent violence.

The conflict, which began on July 24, has led to intense military confrontations, including reports of shelling in four Thai provinces: Buriram, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and Ubon Ratchathani. Cambodian authorities claimed that sacred temple sites such as Tamone Thom, Ta Krabey, and Mom Bei were among the targets.
