YouTube is testing a new feature that could make it easier for Premium users to find their next video without having to search manually, according to Android Headlines. The latest experiment adds recommended videos directly to the playback queue, meaning YouTube will automatically queue up suggestions based on what you're watching. This could be helpful for users who enjoy continuous playback without interruptions, as the platform takes over the job of picking the next video.
The feature is part of YouTube’s Experimental Features program, which allows Premium subscribers to test new tools before they are widely released. According to YouTube, this particular experiment is available only on Android and will run until April 7, 2025. However, some iPhone users have also reported being able to access it.
If you're a Premium subscriber and want to try this feature, you can enable it by opening the You tab in the YouTube app, tapping the gear icon, selecting Try experimental new features, and then choosing Try it out under Recommended videos in Premium Queue. Once activated, YouTube will start adding video suggestions to your queue, letting you watch continuously without selecting new videos yourself.
This isn’t the only experiment YouTube is running. The platform is also testing a 4x playback speed, which doubles the current 2x limit, allowing users to speed through content even faster. Additionally, YouTube recently experimented with higher-quality music playback for Premium users, and there are signs that this improvement may roll out soon.
