Google has announced that “take notes for me” feature will begin rolling out to Google Meet for select Google Workspace customers. The AI-powered feature will make — as the name suggests — taking notes of video calls simpler.

What is take notes for me feature?

“Take notes for me” is an AI-powered feature in Google Meet that automatically takes notes, allowing users to focus on discussion, collaboration, and presentation during  meetings.

Once the meeting is over, then the notes document is attached to the calendar event where participants of the meeting can access them.

How will the feature be useful for Google Meet participants?

The feature will automatically capture meeting notes in Google Docs and save it to the Google Drive of the meeting owner. Furthermore, if users join late for the meeting, they can catch up with the “summary so far” feature. That’s not all as users will be able to send an email with a link to the recap after the meeting. This email goes to the meeting organiser and whoever turned on the feature. If users also turn on meeting recordings and transcripts, those will be linked within the notes document.

Will the feature be available on mobile?

No, not as of now. According to Google, at launch, this feature will be available when using Google Meet on a computer or laptop, and meetings must be conducted in spoken English.

Who can use the new feature?

Google’s new AI feature in Meet will be available for Google Workspace customers who have add-ons, including Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, and AI Meetings & Messaging. The feature is not available to all users as of now and only for select Google Workspace users. Google hasn’t revealed when the feature will be made available for all users.
