India’s medal tally at the 33rd Summer Games has reached six, comprising five bronze and one silver. Manu Bhaker kicked off the tally with a bronze in the women’s 10m Air Pistol event and another bronze in the 10m Air Pistol mixed team event alongside Sarabjot Singh. Shooter Swapnil Kusale also secured a bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions. The Indian men’s hockey team contributed the fourth bronze medal. Neeraj Chopra won silver in the men’s javelin throw, and wrestler Aman Sehrawat earned bronze in the men’s freestyle 57kg category.
Manu Bhaker: 10m Air Pistol Women’s
Shooting prodigy Manu Bhaker kick-started the Indian contingent’s medal tally at the quadrennial event in France by winning bronze in the women's 10m air pistol event. The 22-year-old overcame the disappointment of the Tokyo Olympics, where a pistol malfunction had hindered her performance. This time, she secured third place with a score of 221.7 after 22 shots.

Manu made history in France by becoming the first Indian woman to win two medals at a single edition of the Summer Games. She secured a bronze medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event alongside her compatriot Sarabjot Singh.
Swapnil Kusale: 50m Rifle 3 Position
The shooting team brought India's medal count to three as Swapnil Kusale secured a bronze in the 50m Rifle 3 Positions event, becoming the first Indian ever to medal in this discipline.
Team India: Men’s Hockey
The Indian men’s hockey team secured the bronze medal by defeating Spain 2-1 in the third-place playoff. Captain Harmanpreet Singh scored both goals, leading India to back-to-back hockey medals following their bronze at Tokyo 2020.
Neeraj Chopra: Men’s Javelin Throw
Neeraj Chopra earned the silver medal in the men’s javelin throw, becoming the first Indian track-and-field athlete to win two Olympic medals. The 26-year-old achieved silver with a second-round throw of 89.45m. He had previously secured gold in Tokyo with a throw of 87.58m three years ago. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem broke the Olympic record with a throw of 92.97m to claim the gold.
Aman Sehrawat: Men’s Wrestling Freestyle 57kg
Aman Sehrawat won the bronze medal in the Men’s Freestyle 57kg category by defeating Puerto Rico's Darian Toi Cruz 13-5. Earlier, Aman had lost to the top-seeded Japanese wrestler, Rei Higuchi, in the semi-finals, which led to his bronze-medal match.
