RCB tweet takes a dig at Pakistan after their historic series loss at home against Bangladesh

RCB tweet takes a dig at Pakistan after their historic series loss at home against Bangladesh

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) took a cheeky swipe at Pakistan with a reference to the Indian cricket team, following Pakistan's humiliating 0-2 whitewash against Bangladesh at home. Pakistan lost their series opener to the Najmul Shanto-led visitors by 10 wickets on August 25, marking their first-ever defeat against Bangladesh, and then suffered a six-wicket defeat in the second and final match of the series on Tuesday.

Pakistan had been aiming for a maiden World Test Championship final qualification, with two home series scheduled – against Bangladesh and England. However, their aspirations were dashed by a resilient Bangladesh side, who achieved their fourth Test series clean sweep and second one away from home.

In contrast, Pakistan has yet to win a Test match at home since February 2021, when they completed a whitewash against South Africa. This winless streak now extends to 10 matches, their second-longest such run in history.

Following this defeat, RCB took a brutal jab at Pakistan, highlighting that winning at home isn’t as effortless as the Indian team seems to make it look. “Winning at home isn't as easy as this team makes it look like. And they are back this month,” the tweet read.

Performance of Team India at home

Since their defeat to England in 2012, India have not lost a Test series on home soil, achieving an impressive streak of 17 consecutive Test series victories. This record is particularly remarkable when compared to the next longest winning run at home, which is 10 series, accomplished by Australia between 1994-2000 and 2004-2008. Over this period, India played 50 Test matches at home, winning 39 and losing only four, with two losses each against Australia and England.

India’s upcoming fixtures include two home Test series: one against Bangladesh, starting on September 19, and another against New Zealand, comprising three matches, scheduled for late October.
