From December 13 to 15, Messi is anticipated to travel to India.

If all goes as planned, Argentina's ace Lionel Messi may forgo his football boots in favor of a bat and ball when he visits Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in December 2025. Yes, you read that correctly. In order to perhaps convince Messi to play cricket against some of the biggest Indian superstars, including Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma, the organizers are figuring out the practicalities. It’s still not confirmed if MS Dhoni or Virat Kohli will also join the extravaganza.

Given that Tendulkar and Rohit reside in Mumbai, if their schedules permit, the two may visit the Wankhede to meet with Messi. According to a report in The Hindustan Times, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) sources said that Messi would indeed make an appearance at the storied stadium on December 14.

From December 13 to 15, Messi is anticipated to travel to India. The Inter Miami player will also visit Kolkata and Delhi. Messi would be coming to India for the second time. He had previously been in the nation in 2011 when Argentina and Venezuela played a friendly match at Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata.

"Yes, Lionel Messi will be visiting the Wankhede Stadium on December 14. The finalisation of logistics is well and truly underway. There are plans for organising a cricket match with some of the biggest names in India. The complete schedule will be made public once there is confirmation on the logistics and schedule," the HT report quoted a top MCA official as saying.

In an earlier announcement, Kerala's Sports Minister V Abdurahiman said Messi and the rest of the Argentina football squad will be coming to the state in October for a friendly match. Following an agreement between the state government and the Argentine Football Association (AFA) to organize two games in Kerala, this was verified.

Right now, it doesn't appear likely that this idea will be implemented. In India, Messi is among the most well-liked football players. At the moment, the 38-year-old is a Major League Soccer (MLS) player with Inter Miami. He was a member of Argentina's 2022 World Cup winning team, which triumphed over France in an exciting final.

Messi is also anticipated to participate in the upcoming FIFA World Cup, which will take place in the USA next year. Eight Ballon d'Ors have been awarded to Messi over his illustrious career. FIFA has ranked him the best player in the world eight times. Over 850 goals have been scored by him. In addition, he has contributed over 375 assists for both his club and his nation.
