RCB bowler Yash Dayal had his moment when he got MS Dhoni out in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season in Bengaluru. The place for playoff was on the line in a do or die clash between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The left-arm pacer had a tough task to defend 17 runs off the final over against the likes of MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja in the middle. Dhoni smashed him out of the Chinnaswamy Stadium on the first ball of the over.
With 11 runs needed off 5 balls, Dayal held his nerve and forced a top-edge from MS Dhoni, leaving the legendary finisher visibly frustrated as he walked off the field. Having once endured the onslaught of India’s rising star Rinku, Dayal turned the tables by outsmarting arguably the world's greatest finisher. Conceding just 7 runs in the final over, he delivered a stunning redemption story, helping RCB achieve the improbable.
Dhoni's wicket is a very big achievement for RCB.

Months later, Dayal shared the video of Dhoni's dismissal and is now facing the heat on social media. The clip also showed Zaheer Khan getting the wicket of Dhoni in similar fashion which also led to speculation that Dayal compared himself to the legendary left-arm fast bowler. Fans got another reason to troll him.

Dayal recently opened up on the dismissal and said he felt bad about it.
"I felt bad after dismissing him. Because I don’t know or care what people say but the frustration with which he left the ground, it was like you don’t know whether he will return or not. Will we ever see him again on the ground? It was a moment where a lot of things were going through my head. I got a breather, a bit of relief," Dayal told Jatin Sapru on his YouTube channel.
Coming back to Dhoni, the former CSK captain has decided to play the IPL 2025 and he was retained for Rs 4 crore via the new uncapped rule. Yash Dayal was also retained by RCB for Rs 5 crore alongside Virat Kohli (Rs 21 crore) and Rajat Patidar (Rs 11 crore).
