'Chase-Master' Virat Kohli was at his absolute best as he produced yet another impressive knock against the Punjab Kings on Sunday (April 20) to guide the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to victory. With this victory, RCB kept their unbeaten record of away games intact in the IPL 2025.
The former RCB captain stayed unbeaten on 73 from 54 balls during the run chase, helping the team reach the 157-run target with seven wickets in hand and seven balls to spare. However, it was the post-match scenes that grabbed fans' attention, as Kohli seemed to tease PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer during his celebration.
Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer have had a great relationship over the years but there was something unusual when the two interacted after the match finished. Once Jitesh Sharma secured the victory for RCB, Kohli turned toward Iyer with animated celebrations, playfully mocking his India teammate. Iyer, however, didn’t look particularly amused.

For the unverse, PBKS defeated RCB by 5 wickets in a rain-hit clash at the M. Chinnaswamy in Bengaluru on April 18. In that match, Kohli failed to impress as he was dismissed by Arshdeep Singh early in the innings of the 14-over game. However, in the reverse fixture, Kohli was at his absolute best as he guided his team over the line a sublime knock.
With the win over PBKS, RCB are now third in the IPL 2025 points table with 10 points under their belt. RCB's net run-rate is also impressive (+0.472) courtesy their five wins in eight matches played so far. Kohli was handed the Player of the Match award for his stellar knock against Punjab.
“Very important game for us. When you go from eight [points] to ten, it makes a massive difference. We've set ourselves up nicely... Dev can play around me, maybe Rajat can play around me. There's always a temptation to keep going the same way,” Kohli said after the match.
“First two games we had learnings, and last game was a shortened game. We know in a run chase in T20 cricket, one partnership is enough. If need be, I can accelerate,” Kohli added.
