Indian women’s cricket star Smriti Mandhana and music composer Palash Muchhal, who were supposed to get married on November 23, have postponed their wedding indefinitely after Smriti’s father had to be rushed to the hospital when he suddenly fell ill. Now, fresh reports say that Palash was also admitted to the hospital.
On Monday, November 24, it emerged that soon after Smriti’s father Shrinivas fell unwell ahead of the ceremony , which was to take place in Sangli on Sunday, Palash too had to be taken to a hospital.
According to the information available, Palash’s health worsened and he needed medical attention. NDTV reported that he was taken to a private hospital due to a viral infection and increased acidity. Thankfully, the situation wasn’t serious. After receiving treatment, Palash was discharged and has already returned to the hotel.
Smriti’s manager, Tuhin Mishra, confirmed that her father suffered the health complication early on Sunday morning.
Smriti Mandhana’s family doctor, Dr. Naman Shah, shared that a medical team is closely tracking her father’s condition and that he may be discharged today if he shows the necessary improvement.
Speaking to PTI, he explained, “At around 1.30 pm, Mr Srinivas Mandhana got left-sided chest pain, we call it 'angina' in medical terms. As the symptoms surfaced, his son called me, we sent an ambulance, he was shifted to hospital. We found out in ECG, other reports, that cardiac enzymes are elevated, hence we need to keep him in observation.”
With the situation still delicate, the family decided to postpone all remaining rituals and the wedding ceremony indefinitely. The updated date and schedule for the festivities will be finalised only after they see how quickly Smriti’s father recovers.
