The wedding of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana with music composer Palash Muchhal has been indefinitely postponed. Tuhin Mishra, the cricketer's manager, while speaking to PTI confirmed that her father fell sick while having breakfast in the morning.

"Shrinivas Mandhana, father of Smriti Mandhana, fell sick while having breakfast in the morning. We waited for a bit hoping he'll recover but his health declined further and we thought that no risk should be taken. We called for an ambulance and he has been taken to the hospital and he is currently under observation," Mishra told reporters.

"You all know how much Smriti loves her father, so she has decided until her father recovers the marriage remains indefinitely postponed."

Sharing further details, Mishra added: "Doctors have informed that he needs to remain admitted at the hospital for a while. We are shocked with the turn of events and are praying for his quick recovery."

The cricketer's father was admitted at Sarvhit Hospital in Sangli, Maharashtra. Dr Naman Shah, the director of the hospital, confirmed that her father experienced symptoms of heart attack.

He was immediately transferred to Sarvhit Hospital and Medical Research Center in Sangli for further assessment. Despite his slightly raised cardiac enzymes, he requires ongoing observation.

"Our cardiologist, Dr. Rohan Thanedar, has examined him as well. There are no new findings on the echocardiogram. However, he may need continuous ECG monitoring and, if necessary, angiography. Currently, his blood pressure is slightly elevated, so he needs continuous monitoring...It could be due to physical or mental stress, perhaps because it is wedding season with a lot of hectic activity," Shah was quoted as saying by ANI.
