Delhi Capitals (DC) endured yet another defeat, this time falling short by 14 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium  on Tuesday. Despite the loss there were moment of brilliance for DC. The final over of the KKR innings bowled by Mitchell Starc was one of those moments, which saw the Aussie quick miss-out on a hat-trick and before that Dushmantha Chameera left most stunned with a Superman effort, certainly ranking among the potential catch of the tournament.

Starc started the final over with KKR batting at 195/6. Andre Russell smashed a six off the first delivery as the Aussie missed a yorker from round the wicket that ended up being a full toss. Starc then bowled a wide, following which he conceded a leg bye. On the next delivery, Starc trapped Rovman Powell plumb in front of the wicket.

The next delivery saw Chameera produce one of the highlights of the evening, which saw Anukul Roy packing on first ball duck. The tail-ender slashed the ball towards deep backward square leg and Chameera sensed an opportunity. He ran to his left, flung himself sideways, stretched both hands, and caught the ball parallel to the ground, which left most stunned.

On a hat-trick with new man Harshit Rana on strike, Starc bowled a full delivery around off and the tail-ender threw his bat at it while staying deep in the crease. He failed to make a connection but Russell tried to sneak in a bye only to fall victim to a direct hit by DC wicket-keeper Abishek Porel.

For one moment it did feel that Starc completed his hat-trick as he appealed for a caught behind and Faf du Plessis, then in charge of DC, called for the review. The replays, however, confirmed the ball didn't take any edge off Rana's bat but it did result in a wicket in the form of a run-out.
