Former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff spoke candidly about his popular on-field clash with Yuvraj Singh during the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup that led to the Indian smashing six sixes in an over. Although it was Flintoff, who got Yuvraj riled up, Stuart Broad had to pay the price of the southpaw's wrath.

During a conversation on Beard Before Wicket, Flintoff admitted that his sledging had gone too far. "So with Yuvraj, we used to go at each other. But it was always in the best intentions and fun. And I think he is brilliant, he is a good lad. And then in that World Cup game against India, my ankle had gone. I thought it was my last game. I was angry and I crossed the line. It's one of the few times in my career I did, I think. And then he hit Stuart Broad for six sixes. It should have been me.

"I was fielding on the boundary after the first one he was looking at me. I go 'oh here we go'. And then the second one, he was looking for me again. By the fifth one I wanted him to do it (big laugh)."

After losing to New Zealand, India faced England in a must-win game in Durban. After Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag gave India a solid start, Yuvraj ensured things ended on a high. he walked into bat after Robin Uthappa was dismissed.

Each ball hit by Yuvraj in the 19th over by Broad was dislodged over the boundary ropes, resulting in a 12-ball fifty - the fastest in T20Is at that time. This record lasted for 16 years until it was broken in 2023 by Dipendra Singh Airee of Nepal.

In just one over, Yuvraj's blitz increased India's score from 171 to 207, enabling them to reach 218 and eventually win by 18 runs.

Despite the fact that Herschelle Gibbs had earlier struck six sixes in an ODI, Yuvraj's feat was more significant because it came against elite opponent and under extreme pressure.
