Hasin Jahan reacts to alimony battle win against Mohammed Shami

After years of legal battle, Mohammed Shami on Tuesday was ordered by the Calcutta High Court to pay his estranged wife Hasin Jahan an alimony of Rs 4 lakh per month as maintenance. As per the orders, Jahan will receive Rs 1.50 lakh per month, while their daughter will get Rs 2.50 lakh per month.

Jahan, a former model, married Shami in 2014. The couple had a daughter in 2015 and three years later got separated in 2018 after Jahan accused Shami of domestic violence. They have since been entangled in a divorce case and legal battle regarding alimony.

The matter has now been settled by the Calcutta High Court until further twists and reacting to the orders, Jahan pointed fingers at Shami for her condition. She also expressed faith in the Indian judicial system, before adding she is "on the path of justice while he is on injustice".

"I used to do modelling and act before I got married. (Mohammed) Shami forced me to quit my profession. He wanted me to live only a housewife's life. I loved Shami so much that I happily accepted it... But now I have no earnings of my own. Shami has to bear all the responsibility for our maintenance. That is why we had to approach the court when he denied this," Jahan told ANI.

"Thank God there is a law in our country which orders people to bear their responsibilities... If you are entering a relationship with someone, it is not written on their face that they have a poor character, are a criminal, or will play with you and your daughter's future... I too became a victim like this... God has forgiven the biggest criminals. He can not see the protection, future, and happiness of his daughter. He should also give up his stubbornness of wanting to ruin Hasir Jahan's life. He cannot destroy me because I am on the path of justice while he is on the path of injustice," she added.
