On social media, veteran Indian cricketer Mohammed Shami has frequently been the target of hate speech and bullying. Despite his bowling prowess in all formats for the Indian squad, Shami has occasionally had to demonstrate his value as a person and a player.
In an interview, Shami was asked how he handles hate on social media, and he talked about one of the times he was harshly criticized for drinking an energy drink during Ramadan. The player also frequently becomes the target of hate on social media, a reality he has learned to live with.

Even the holy scriptures permit exceptions for those who are traveling, representing the country, or in circumstances when they are unable to maintain a fast, Shami clarified in an interview with News24.
"We are playing a match in 42 or 45 degrees, we are sacrificing ourselves. Even in our law, there are exceptions for cases like these, if you are doing something for the country or traveling. People should understand these things. I understand that people see others as role models but they should also understand what exactly the person is doing, and for whom. Even our law allows us certain exceptions, we can either pay a penalty for that or compensate for that later, which I did," he said.
The pacer added that he isn't disturbed by what trolls have to say because he no longer reads what people comment about him on social media. His team now manages all of his social media profiles.
"It's just that some people want to come into the limelight and want to point things out. I never read comments on social media, my team manages my accounts," stated the veteran Indian seamer, who is currently having trouble securing a position in any of the three international cricket formats.
