Puri, Odisha – June 27, 2025: The holy city of Puri witnessed a massive spiritual gathering today as the grand Jagannath Rath Yatra 2025 began with immense devotion and enthusiasm. Thousands of devotees from across India gathered at the Shree Jagannath Temple to take part in one of the most revered festivals in the Hindu calendar.

Marking the second day of the bright fortnight in the Odia month of Ashadha, the Rath Yatra is a centuries-old tradition where the sibling deities—Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra—embark on a ceremonial journey from the Jagannath Temple to Gundicha Temple in their majestic chariots. The deities reside there for a week before returning in the Bahuda Yatra.

Pilgrims from all corners of the country described their presence at the Yatra as a life-changing experience. Pooja Anand, who traveled from Mumbai, called the occasion “divine” and said, “This is the only day when Lord Jagannath comes out to bless the world. I have waited for this moment for years.” She also shared how the overnight rainfall added a pleasant touch to the atmosphere.

Fulfilling a 39-Year-Old Dream

Bandita Patra, a dancer from Cuttack, performed a devotional dance as part of her group Shilp Kala Niketan, fulfilling a 39-year-old collective dream and her mother’s 27-year-old wish. “I dedicated my dance to Lord Jagannath. He never leaves your side once you connect with Him,” she said with deep emotion.

A Mother's Wish Comes True

Another devotee, Rupali Kajrolkar, said her son wished to witness the Rath Yatra and touch the chariot after eating Lord Jagannath’s prasad last year. “That wish has come true today,” she shared, adding, “This is a must-visit festival. Only those who are called by God can make it here.”

For many, the Rath Yatra is more than just a festival—it is a spiritual journey. Rashmi Chaudhary from Mumbai expressed her joy after witnessing the divine darshan, saying, “This is a sacred moment. God is blessing everyone—rich and poor alike—by coming out of His temple.”

CM Welcomes Pilgrims with Open Arms

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi extended his warm welcome to the devotees and urged everyone to join the Rath Yatra with faith. “Witness the divine glimpse of Mahaprabhu atop the chariot and receive His blessings,” his message read.
