Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), January 20: The grand Maha Kumbh 2025 has become a global spectacle, uniting millions of people and showcasing the unparalleled cultural diversity of India. This year, the event has been elevated to new heights under the visionary leadership of the Uttar Pradesh government. Ministers personally extended invitations across the nation and beyond, ensuring a rich representation of India’s cultural tapestry.

One of the standout features of the Maha Kumbh is the establishment of 12 state pavilions, symbolising the country's cultural wealth and unity. These vibrant installations, set up on the sands of Sangam, have turned Prayagraj’s Kumbh Nagar into a cultural hub.

Visitors to Sector 7 are treated to a spectacular array of traditions, with pavilions from states such as Nagaland, Leh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Uttarakhand. Each pavilion presents a unique window into the state’s heritage, drawing large crowds eager to experience the diversity of Indian culture.

Madhya Pradesh, for instance, has captivated audiences with its vibrant tribal Bhagoria dance. This traditional performance, celebrated during the Bhagoria festival before Holi, features colourful costumes, rhythmic drumbeats, and the playful use of gulal. Beyond entertainment, it carries a powerful message of preserving tribal heritage.

Rajasthan’s pavilion, meanwhile, offers a rich glimpse into its historical splendour. Highlights include models of iconic landmarks like Hawa Mahal, Jaigarh Fort, Chittorgarh Fort, and Vijay Stambh. Visitors are warmly welcomed and treated to authentic Rajasthani cuisine, while daily cultural programmes ensure a lively atmosphere for the entire 45-day event.

The Maha Kumbh also celebrates the nation’s diverse performing arts. Traditional dances such as Gujarat’s Garba, Andhra Pradesh’s Kuchipudi, Uttar Pradesh’s Jogini dance, Uttarakhand’s Chholia, and Chhattisgarh’s Chherchhera take centre stage, captivating audiences. Lesser known but equally fascinating performances, like the mask dance of Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Changlo from Nagaland, and Shondol from Ladakh, add to the event’s rich cultural narrative.

Adding a modern twist to tradition, the Madhya Pradesh pavilion features the world’s first Vedic clock, a panchang-based timepiece unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Installed outside the pandal, it has become a must-visit attraction, drawing devotees eager to witness this blend of ancient wisdom and innovation.

In addition to the pavilions, the North Central Zone Cultural Centre has played a pivotal role in promoting Indian art and literature. Exhibitions, music, and dance performances at the venue provide visitors with an immersive cultural experience.

The Maha Kumbh 2025 stands as a testament to India's unity in diversity. With its 12 state pavilions, the event has created a unique confluence of traditions, bringing people from across the globe together to celebrate the nation’s cultural heritage.

As devotees gather at Prayagraj’s Triveni Sangam, they are not only participating in spiritual rituals but also experiencing the vibrant mosaic of India’s cultures, making this Maha Kumbh an unforgettable journey of unity and harmony.
