To accommodate the growing number of devotees visiting the Kainchi Dham temple in Bhowali, Nainital district, and to ease traffic congestion, the Uttarakhand government has introduced a dedicated shuttle service starting March 26, 2025. This initiative aims to provide a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience while regulating traffic in the region.
Rising Popularity of Kainchi Dham
Kainchi Dham, established by the revered spiritual leader Neem Karoli Baba, has become a globally recognized pilgrimage site. The influx of devotees, especially during festivals and weekends, often results in severe traffic congestion due to the narrow roads leading to the temple. The new shuttle service will help mitigate these challenges by reducing vehicular movement near the temple premises.
Parking & Shuttle Service Details
To streamline travel and avoid unnecessary congestion, authorities have designated specific parking areas for devotees. Visitors will be encouraged to park their private vehicles in these zones and use the shuttle service to reach the temple:
For travelers via Haldwani (Bhimtal route): Parking is available at the Industrial Area Bhimtal parking lot.
For travelers via Haldwani (Jyolikot-Bhowali route): Parking is available near Bhowali Sanatorium, approximately 1.5 km from the Kainchi Bypass.
Shuttle Service Schedule
The shuttle service will operate as follows:
Weekdays: 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM
Weekends: 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM (due to higher footfall)
Traffic Control Measures
In addition to the shuttle service, traffic restrictions will be implemented to ensure smooth travel:
