Gajanana Sankashti Chaturthi will be observed on Monday, July 14, 2025, during Krishna Paksha Chaturthi of the Ashadha month (as per the Amanta calendar and Purnimanta Shravan month). On this sacred day, devotees worship Lord Ganesha in his Gajanana form, believed to bless devotees with wish fulfillment, strength, and the removal of all obstacles.

As described in the Mudgal Purana, once a demon named Lobhasura created havoc on Earth through his evil deeds. The gods, seeking help, prayed to Lord Ganesha with utmost devotion. In response, Lord Ganesha appeared in his Gajanana form, defeated the demon, and freed the Earth from his tyranny. This tale highlights Lord Ganesha’s power to protect righteousness and grant divine justice.

Sankashti Chaturthi Puja Vidhi

• Wake up early, bathe, and wear clean clothes.
• Clean the puja area and place an idol or image of Lord Gajanana.
• Light a ghee diya, incense sticks, and offer Durva grass, Modaks, red flowers, and fruits.
• Chant Ganapati mantras and read or listen to the Sankashti Vrat Katha.
• Observe a strict fast till moonrise, and break it only after seeing the moon and offering Arghya.
• Chant: “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” and “Vakratunda Mahakaya” for peace and prosperity.

Worshipping Lord Gajanana helps in wish fulfillment, removing negativity, and attaining peace. It is believed that sincere fasting on this day can help overcome major obstacles, and even defeat powerful enemies, just as Gajanana defeated Lobhasura. This vrat is considered highly effective for career growth, family harmony, and success in legal matters.
