Indian Coast Guard helicopter crashes at Gujarat's Porbandar airport during landing | N18L

An Indian Coast Guard (ICG) helicopter crashed at Porbandar airport in Gujarat, killing three crew members on January 5, 2025. The accident occurred at around 12:10 pm when the Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) was attempting to land after a routine sortie. The crew members, identified as Commandant Saurabh, Deputy Commandant SK Yadav, and Manoj Pradhan Navik, were severely burnt in the crash and were rushed to a hospital in Porbandar but were declared dead. The helicopter caught fire after crashing near the runway, and the blaze was brought under control by a fire tender. The helicopter was an ALH MK-III model, and the reasons for the crash are under investigation by a Board of Inquiry. This incident follows a similar crash in September 2022, when another ICG ALH MK-III helicopter went down in the Arabian Sea, also killing three crew members.
