Positive global cues lifted market sentiment, with 40 of the 50 Nifty stocks closing higher. Gains were led by IT, auto, and metal stocks, while PSU banks and realty counters dragged. The midcap index hit a record high, even as the smallcap index slipped marginally. Investors remained focused on key earnings from HAL, Asian Paints, and Tata Steel.
