As Coldplay gears up for their highly anticipated concert in India, excitement is reaching fever pitch. With tickets set to go on sale soon, fans are scrambling to secure their spots at the D.Y. Patil Stadium, which will host 50,000 lucky attendees. However, a viral ChatGPT calculation suggests that snagging a ticket may be more challenging than initially thought.
A marketing executive recently shared a detailed analysis of the ticket odds on social media, offering a sobering look at the numbers. With an estimated 1,50,000 people expected to show interest on BookMyShow by the weekend, the competition will be fierce. According to the analysis, the base odds of getting a ticket are around 1 in 3, given the current demand and stadium capacity. But that's not the end of the story.
The analysis also accounts for additional factors, such as non-expressed interest and multiple devices or accounts being used by fans. Assuming 20% of fans don't express interest formally but still plan to buy tickets, and a further 10% increase in competition due to multiple bookings, the odds stretch to 1 in 4.4. These odds - a 22.7% chance - are set to get slimmer, according to the analysis.
ONDC Marketing Executive Tina Gurnaney shared the ChatGPT analysis on X writing, “Odds of getting a Coldplay concert ticket.” Gurnaney clarified in the comments that she provided some basic assumptions to ChatGPT for the calculation.

“Group ticketing will bring this no further down,” one user wrote.
“One person can buy 8 tickets. This doesn’t account for that. That’s a major multiplier,” wrote another.
A third said: “People who expressed interest will probably try to buy max amount of tickets, this is something they have learnt via Diljit & Dua Lipa saga.”
In addition to standard tickets, Coldplay has also announced a limited number of "Infinity Tickets." These special tickets, priced at approximately Rs 2,000, aim to offer more fans the chance to attend the concert. However, the catch is that the seating locations for Infinity Ticket holders will only be disclosed on the day of the event, adding an element of mystery. Each fan is allowed to buy a maximum of two tickets.
With tickets going live on September 22 at 12pm, and the concert scheduled for November 2024, fans should be prepared for an intense race. Coldplay has also teased a surprise guest for the event.
