Parag Desai, the executor director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, died on Sunday, a week after he slipped outside his Ahmedabad home, trying to ward off street dogs that attacked him, according to an Ahmedabad Mirror report. He reportedly had severe head injuries after the fall and died on Sunday at a hosptial in Ahmedabad after suffering brain haemorrhage.
“With profound grief and sorrow, we regret to inform the sad demise of our beloved Shri Parag Desai,” Wagh Bakri Tea Group wrote on Instagram Stories.

- Parag Desai was the son of Rasesh Desai, the managing director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group
- An expert tea taster and tea evaluator, Desai led the sales, marketing and export departments for the group.
- He earned his MBA from Long Island University in USA.
- “I believe, as a fourth-generation entrepreneur, I have been very lucky to have learnt from my elders. Also, I have taken a very formal, strict education overseas and in India. I have had the good opportunity of merging both these learnings to leading the company into the next generation,” he had told Moneycontrol in December last year.
- Speaking of his management style, Desai had said he believes in “complete empowerment”. “I hardly operate out of office hours,” he had said, adding that he is a hands-on leader who wants to build deep relationships with stakeholders.
- Apart from the family business, Desai took up welfare causes and was associated with Blind People’s Association (BPA) in Ahmedabad and Jivdaya Charitable Trust, an organisation running an animal hospital in the city.
- Desai was married to Vidisha. The couple has a daughter, Parisha.
