Living away from home with roommates can be an expensive experience, with high cost of rent and other expenses leading to meagre savings, at the end of every month.
However, a person might, sometimes, encounter an experience which could pave the way for increased savings as was seen recently, when a man took to X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday to share that his landlady had asked him to accommodate her daughter in his flat, which he shares with two other men in the National Capital Region.
Writing on the social media platform, the man-identified as Sachin- wrote that his landlady contacted him and said her daughter was preparing for her NEET exam, but was not particularly good at studies and would take admission in the college he was studying in.
My flat owner messaged me that her daughter is appearing for NEET exam this year. She is not that good in studies and her physics is also very weak so she will take admission in our college(Private). She will live with me. What should I do? Should I ask her to decrease my rent?— Sachin (@scalpelinhand) February 15, 2024
I live in 3 bhk. My flat owner wants her daughter to live in a separate room not in my room. She trusts me a lot. I wouldn't be lying if I say she trusts me more than her son.— Sachin (@scalpelinhand) February 15, 2024
Me and my 2 roommates live in a fully furnished 3 BHK flat in NCR. We pay a 19k + Electricity fee which means about 7k per person per month. It's cheaper than College Hostel.— Sachin (@scalpelinhand) February 15, 2024
"If you are a male and she is a female, it makes matters worse. The whole thing is fishy. Just don't budge. Leave the place the minute she takes admission. This is a request from someone who is your parents' age," one user wrote.
"Her presence will require all three boys to adjust habits and living style in ways that you might not have anticipated. And frankly, you are one false accusation away from being thrown out or worse, facing legal issues. You're not responsible for her, if you're not family," another user wrote.
