Feng Yuan, a seasoned software engineer with a 22-year tenure at Microsoft, has left the world of technology behind to embark on a new journey as a goose farmer. A recent social media post showcasing Yuan's unconventional career move has ignited a flurry of discussions online, shedding light on his extraordinary transition from the corporate corridors of Microsoft to the serene landscapes of goose farming.

The buzz began when a post on social media highlighted Feng Yuan's bold decision, featuring a snapshot of his LinkedIn profile with the caption, "Resigned from Microsoft after 22 years just to become a Goose Farmer." It was tweeted by an X user.

Despite achieving success in the tech industry, Yuan's decision to transition to goose farming underscores a deeper pursuit of personal passion and fulfillment. While specifics behind his career shift remain undisclosed, he was fired from Microsoft around 10 months ago, but he had already ventured into goose farming by then.

“I just got fired today by Microsoft due to so called low performance Microsoft. I'm very proud of my work at Microsoft, so I have no issue sharing the information with the world. Thanks for your belief and support in me. To those on the opposite side, bigger thanks from my wife now I can spend more time with her. Our geese and chickens would be happier too,” he had written in a LinkedIn post 10 months ago.

Yuan's academic background further reflects his multidimensional expertise, with a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Nanjing University and a Bachelor's degree in Electronics from Shanghai University. His first work experience listed on LinkedIn is that of a lecturer at Nanjing University for over three years.

He has been working as goose farmer for the last 11 months. He regularly posts photos and updates on his progress at what he calls the most “sustainable poultry”. He lives in Washington, US.
