Author and philanthropist Sudha Murty recently attended the screening of Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film “The Vaccine War” in Bengaluru. The movie is being dubbed as India’s first bio-science film. It is based on the true story of Indian scientists and their fight against the Covid-19 pandemic by creating an affordable vaccine for the country and the world, according to the makers.
Agnihotri took to X (formerly Twitter) to share the video in which Murty was seen speaking about the film. She called it “heart-touching” and said that behind every successful woman there is an understanding man as the film also features the efforts of female scientists in developing a vaccine for Covid-19.
“I do understand the role of a woman because she is a mother, wife and a career person. It is very hard to balance your family and work. Some people are fortunate. In my case, my parents lived downstairs and I lived upstairs, so I could do better. But, everyone doesn’t have that,” Murty said.
“It is not easy for a woman to pursue a career with children. She requires good family support. I always say, ‘Behind every successful woman, there is an understanding man, otherwise she cannot do it.'”
Murty also talked about how the female scientists worked hard during the pandemic while their children stayed at home. “In this film, children were small, but they will be proud of their mother and what she has done.”

She talked about how Indians were enslaved for years and have lost their identity and have failed to recognise their potential. “We have tremendous potential, but that is not unleashed because we are always worried that ‘we won’t be able to do it’. But we can do it. That is the message. Not in the medical field only, but in any field, we can do it."
We should believe in ourselves. The beauty is not in clothes or makeup. It is in the courage and confidence that we have. You have shown here that the real wealth is our confidence. Please unleash your potential, all Indians. Be ethical, be hardworking and be proud that you are Indian,” Murty concluded.
Meanwhile, “The Vaccine War” stars Nana Patekar, Pallavi Joshi, Raima Sen, Anupam Kher and Sapthami Gowda in pivotal roles. The movie will release in theatres on September 28.
