Shah Rukh Khan dropped the Dunki teaser on his 58th birthday.

On the occasion of his 58th birthday, Shah Rukh Khan delighted his fans by revealing the much-anticipated teaser of his upcoming film, 'Dunki.' This latest cinematic offering is Shah Rukh's third release of the year, following the massive success of 'Pathaan' and 'Jawan.' Directed by the acclaimed filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, 'Dunki' also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal.

The teaser opens with a striking scene in a desert, where a group of people cloaked in black attire crosses the arid expanse, unaware that a sharpshooter has them in his sights. As the trigger is pulled, the audience is transported back in time to the heart of the story—a group of friends from Punjab, who harbor dreams of a future in London.

Among this ensemble are Shah Rukh Khan, along with Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, and two other companions. Shah Rukh's character, Hardy, is determined to go to any lengths to fulfill his friends' aspirations.

Shah Rukh Khan, sharing his excitement, tweeted, "A story of simple and real people trying to fulfill their dreams and desires. Of friendship, love, and being together… Of being in a relationship called Home! A heartwarming story by a heartwarming storyteller. It's an honor to be a part of this journey, and I hope you all come along with us. The #DunkiDrop1 is here…"

Hirani also expressed his enthusiasm, tweeting, "Home is where the heart smiles the most. And at the heart of this film are people on a journey of friendship, love, and their dreams. Excited now that the #DunkiDrop1 is here. #Dunki releasing worldwide in cinemas this Christmas."

'Dunki' is a collaborative effort by Red Chillies Entertainment, Rajkumar Hirani Films, and Jio Studios, and it is all set to hit Indian theatres on December 22. The release date puts 'Dunki' in direct competition with Prashant Neel's 'Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire,' starring Prabhas in the lead role.

X users couldn't contain their excitement.

"Yeh tohafa SRK ne India ko diya hai woh bhi apne birthday par. Thank you SRK," one user tweeted.

"King on his way to setting the box office on FIRE once again with #Dunki," tweeted another.

Notably, Shah Rukh Khan had previously revealed the meaning behind the film's title. During an interview at the Red Sea International Film Festival in Saudi Arabia in December 2022, he disclosed, "In English, my film would be called Donkey, it is Donkey. But the way a part of the country pronounces donkey in India, it is ‘dunki’. The Punjabis say it (donkey) like dunki… How much to tell you about the story… It is a film directed by one of the most brilliant filmmakers we have had in our country, Mr. Raju Hirani. It is written by a very fantastic writer, Abhijat Joshi. It is a story of people, who want to come back home… when you finally get the calling."

Shah Rukh Khan went on to describe 'Dunki' as a comic film that blends humour with profound emotions about the nation. He painted it as a grand journey that traverses various parts of the world, only to find its way back home to India.
