As Avengers: Infinity War inches closer to claim the highest Hollywood grosser in India tag pipping The Jungle Book, which made Rs 187 crore, the superhero movie is breaking records of other English films released in the country as well.
The 19th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has topped the list of Hollywood films that have made all-time highest weekend collections in India.

Standing at the third position is another film from the Fast and Furious series — Furious 7 which earned Rs 70 crore over its first weekend.
The Jungle Book and Avengers: Age of Ultron take fourth and fifth spots with revenue of Rs 56 crore and Rs 49 crore during their opening weekend, respectively, according to Box Office India.
Along with this, Avengers: Infinity War has taken an all-time number one opening for a Hollywood movie in India. The film started its journey in the country with Rs 31.30 crore.
Dubbed in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, the film’s Hindi version had a strong run at the box office. Released in over 900 screens, Avengers: Infinity War in Hindi made Rs 40 crore over its opening weekend which is more than the business done by few Bollywood films released earlier.
The film is ahead of Ajay Devgn-starrer Raid and Akshay Kumar’s Padman. While the former earned Rs 39.75 crore with a release in over 3,250 screens, the latter minted Rs 38.80 crore playing on around 2,800 screens.
Although Avengers: Infinity War is a distant third to Padmaavat and Baaghi 2 that gathered Rs 75.05 crore and Rs 72.48 crore, respectively, it is important to note that the two films had a wider release in comparison to their Hollywood counterpart.
While Padmaavat released in 3,750 screens, Baaghi 2 was played on 3,500 screens.
The fan base for the Avengers franchise is huge in India and the proof of this is worldwide ranking of the country in terms of box office collection for Avengers: Infinity War. India figures in the top five for a Hollywood movie's opening overseas, which is seen rarely, with UK, US and Korea taking the lead.
In addition the film has not lost momentum in India during weekdays and on its first Monday Avengers: Infinity War collected Rs 20.50 crore and its Tuesday earnings saw a slight drop with revenue of Rs 20 crore.
Avengers: Infinity War's grand total in India now stands at Rs 134.83 crore in just five days.
