At war on poll turf, but AAP and BJP at peace over Ram Rajya dream

No matter how different they are on the political front, it is the Ram Rajya that brings the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on the same side of the economic frontiers.

Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena on March 4 claimed that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal-led state government is on course to set up "Ram Rajya" in the national capital.

While presenting the tenth budget (FY 2024-25) of the Aam Aadmi Party government, Finance Minister Atishi said her government has changed the lives of people through its policies.

“In 2013, when we entered politics, we saw that people in Delhi had lost faith in political parties. Their opinion was that politicians take their support but never work for them. But their perception changed with Arvind Kejriwal’s administration,” she said.

People in Delhi had to mortgage gold to ensure their children get a good education in private schools because government schools were lacking staff and infrastructure. The Aam Aadmi Party government worked hard to bring change in the education system, and students are now clearing prestigious examinations, she added.

“Our government has taken the pledge to establish Ram Rajya in Delhi. Our party is working tirelessly to achieve this dream for the last nine years,” claimed Atishi.

Apart from schools, the Delhi government has also tried to provide better health facilities to people and create high-class infrastructure across Delhi, she said.

She also mentioned that the population of Delhi contributes only 1.55 percent to the total population of the country, and its contribution to the national GDP is more than double. “In 2023-24, the contribution of Delhi to the national GDP is going to be 3.89 percent, at constant prices,” she said.
