Lok Sabha MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on January 16 accused the INDIA bloc parties of engaging in politics similar to that of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
His statement came following Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s announcement to organise Sundarkand recitations across temples in Delhi and Congress leaders visiting Ayodhya.
On January 15, Congress’ Uttar Pradesh leadership, led by its state president Ajay Rai, took a holy dip in the River Saryu and visited the temple of Lord Ram.
“There is no difference between you (the opposition) and the BJP. It appears that you are aligning with the agendas of the BJP and RSS. Some are claiming to take a dip in the Saryu River in Ayodhya, while others are inviting the President to Nashik. In Delhi, the AAP is organising Sundarkand paths,” alleged Owaisi.
Earlier, on January 10, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, and Leader of the Congress Party in the Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury declined the invitation to attend the inauguration of the Ram temple on January 22.
They cited that an incomplete temple was being inaugurated by the Bharatiya Janata Party and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh for electoral gains.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray in a bid to counter Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited President Droupadi Murmu to offer prayers at Nashik’s Kalaram temple on January 22.
“How do you plan to defeat Narendra Modi if you are adopting the same ideology as him? The double standards of opposition parties are now exposed,” Owaisi said.
